In Grafton Notch State Park, watch for signs and parking lot. 2. Off the South Arm Road in Andover. Check with rangers or South Arm Campground for exact location of trail access.
Black Mountain of Maine : Located on Glover Road in Rumford this family- oriented ski area features day and night downhill and Olympic-quality cross-country course and snow tubing. An active summer program for the kids is available, including a swimming pool and day camp. Mountain bike and hiking trails are also on Black Mountain. For information call 207-364-8977.
Coos Canyon: A beautiful gorge carved into bedrock by the Swift River. Picnic tables, viewpoints and walking trails. 13 miles west on Route 17 out of Mexico.
Ellis River Riders Horse Shows: Old Route 5, Airport Road, Andover. Good family entertainment on the first Sunday of each month, June through October.
Height of Land: Viewpoint overlooking the Rangely Lakes Region. Take Route 17 off Route 2 at the traffic light in Mexico. Viewpoint is about 20 miles out that scenic highway which is also a source of regular moose sightings.
Kids World of Fun and Wonder: 138 Franklin Street, Rumford. Off Route 2 onto Franklin Street in Rumford, you will find a children's museum filled with special activities and fun. Call to check on public hours. 207-364-8277
Mead Corporation Forest and Mill Tours: Reservations required for all tours call (207)369-2045. Half day Forest Tour plus full Mill Tour starting at 7:30 a.m., July 25 and August 8. All day forest tours 7:30am to 3pm every Wednesday July 2 through August 24. Mill tours starting at 10am every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August.
Mexico Recreation Center: Offers many activities for children and adults. Starting in June the Historical Society Beano will be held on Friday. Fall to Spring Roller-skating is available every Saturday night from 7-9. Fall and winter line dancing lessons are available on Monday. They have youth and adult volleyball programs in the fall and winter. NEW this fall is the Teen Center featuring a game room, television, and a place for teens to kick back and relax. Mexico Recreation Park: Picnic tables, playground equipment, tennis, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball fields, fireplace, snack bar, performance stage. Located on the Swift River for swimming or fishing.

Public Beaches: Worthley Pond in W. Peru, Ellis Pond/Silver Lake in Roxbury, various spots on the Swift and Ellis Rivers, and for a day use fee: Mount Blue State Park and Dummers Beach in Weld.
Public Boat Launching Sites: 1. From Route 2 West in Rumford onto the Androscoggin River for fishing or canoeing, watch for the site on the left past McDonalds and Veterinarian office. 2. From Route 2 in Mexico onto the Swift and Androscoggin rivers, enter parking lot by the bridge across from Franklin Savings Bank. 3. From South Arm Road in Andover onto Richardson Lake. 4. Mount Blue State Park on Webb Lake in Weld.
Snowmobile Trails: There is a network of trails throughout the area. Step Falls, Screw Auger Falls, Mother Walker, Trails to Moose Cave and Jail: Grafton Notch State Park, 20 miles north on Route 26, off Route 2 in Newry. Scenic drive, hiking picnicking, and swimming. Hike to Table Rock - look for information signs in the park.
Sunday River Covered Bridge: Located west on Route 2. Take the Sunday River Access Road.
